Love the tight view Hendri !! Might back down the sharpening a bit or just go after the head area !! btw with such a pretty bg would raise the ISO for stopping down the lens as much as possible, having those whiskers sharp would have been incredible, not sure if possible !!! Love this image !!!

Super profile mate, and against a killer BG. If anything, I would have given a little extra space below the claws. Well captured.

Lovely image indeed.

Goes to show you can get a very sharp image with a 300mm and 2x combined.

stunning portrait Hendri! lovely light, detail and BG. that lens is super sharp to be able to deliver this with a 2x

maybe the fur looks a notch over-sharpened?

Nice image. I agree with Alfred regarding a higher ISO. The canon 300 f2.8 L IS USM and the 400mm f2.8 L IS USM lenses take 2x converter well.

Cheers,

Nice shot Hendri. Great pose and super framing. For me the sharpening is fine - the ground squirrels have that thick fur that shows up really well in close ups.

I am off the Kgalalgadi next weekend and hope I can find some obliging squirrels among other species.

Super portrait Hendri. Sharpening on the fur has been mentioned.. My only comment there being some fur types that don't need as much to produce an acceptable image, such as Wildebeest and these. Wouldn't say is over sharpened, but to produce the right effect you can use less.... :):)

Lovely portrait, with the camera to subject angle adding greatly to the image success.
