Hi, this is my first upload to BirdPhotographers. American Darter was taken on my recently trip to Florida (Wakodahatchee Wetlands). I was very satisfied to take few backlight pictres of the Darter. I have to wait up to 20 minutes for this eye to eye portrait and I can utilize this 2second moment. Feel free to give me feedback.

Canon EOS 50D, Canon EF 400/5.6, ISO 320, 1/500s, f7.1

Nice backlit portrait, Petr. Good detail in the crest feathers highlights. Would wish for a head turn so we could see more details of mandibles. Also, you could open up the shadows a bit to show more underwing detail. Welcome to BPN and thanks for the post! Keep 'em coming.

Petr, welcome to BPN. Very nice first pose. Liked the back light and the pose. Well seen and composed. The OOF circular highlights add to the mystique. Thx for sharing.

Welcome Petr. Great example of rim lighting. I like the symmetry and the fact that there is enough light to show the eyes and bill detail. I might darken down the bright areas in the BG a little.

Very dramatic and rather humerus at the same time. I like your creativity!

I like this and there are so many comp possibilities with the bird posing. I'd like to see a head turn so the beak is showing.
