View Full Version : Drinking (but I don't think drunk) Zebras

Photographed in Namibia. Wish I had more room at the top. I cloned out a few other zebra parts and stripes in the background and in the water. I tried to make the zebras pop but not sure if I achieved that.

Canon 20D, Canon 300 f4 L IS lens, ISO 400, f5, 1/500.

Comments, critiques and instruction welcome!

The crop is a little cramped Nancy, however you've made up for it with some great symmetry and almost perfect spacing and HA's, nice side lighting also.

When you say Namibia, I presume you mean Etosha?

I agree with Marc that a little more room on left hand side would improve this a lot.

The Zebra seem a little too yellow to me, but other than that everything is to me liking.

Hi Nancy would have to echo both Marc & Ken's comments, especially Ken's point about being slightly yellow.

Nancy,
I agree with the previous comments. Increasing the white balance during post processing, apart from making it yellow, often creates problems for the highlights. Tight frame, however, nice symmetry of the zebras.

Cheers,

The symmetry is very nice, also some very nice light that could be warmen up a little in photoshop i think

Hi Nancy Agree with comments and easy to correct !! Like the similar head positions Could darken the corners just a bit to draw focus on the center !! Excellent !!!

Thank you everyone. I had gotten to that place where I just did not know what to do with this photo. I removed the yellow cast and darkened the edges. This is now the entire frame and I cannot add to the top or the left side.

Nancy, the repost is much better. It is tight, but still an outstanding image. we have tried and tried to get this kind of symmetry and just didn't make it. This is super.

Great repost, I have spent over 2 months in Etosha in the past ten years and never got such a good line-up.
