Love the wing position and fantail, perfect EXP, lovely BG. Upper mandible looks a little soft but great detail on head and wings. Stunning flight capture, Judy!

This is outstanding. I have tried to get these in flight with no luck. The erratic flight patterns make it very difficult. You did super on this. Congrats.;)

A fantastic flight shot Judy Lynn. Some selective noise removal on the BG would improve this killer shot.

This is great!! Haven't seen many images of a Flicker in flight. Looks like a big crop but still retains nice detail.

Judy the BG seems a bit noisy for a Nikon?:)

Tough shot to get Judy and sharp as tact. Really congrats on this one, Agree with Alan about selective NR but excellent and perfect light too.

I often wonder why they called them Yellow-shafted Flickers, not hard to tell why, from this image. Nice capture...probably was a large crop..but lovely image with wings and tail open like that..TFS

Judy - like it a lot. All those little birds are hard to capture in flight. You did a great job and the colorful flicker did its part.

Hi Judy

Those Flickers are amazing looking birds and if they are like our woodpeckers probably very difficult to photogrph in flight. A really good flight pose with the wings and tail fully spread and I like the way you have captured the light coming through the feathers. The only issue with background noise has been pointed out and dealt with well in Stuart's repost.

Cheers

Beautiful images of this female inflight Judy. The yellow really shows this bird off.
