With the waders' nesting season beginning to heat up in South Louisiana, I've been reviewing some of last seasons images. Here's one of my favorite spoonie shots from last June.

Those wings are killer!

The colors are very accurate and the silkiness of the feathers is well captured. Nice specimen.
I like that you included the perch, it gives more sense of the landing.
Wish his head was more in the clear, but I'd be very happy to have this in my files.

Congratulations!

Welcome, David! Great wing position, details and light angle. I wish for a bit more eye contact and maybe a bit more of the branches. Keep them coming!

I like symmetry in the wings. There is bit more DoF than I would expect for f8, but that's a good thing :D

I'm not sure about the head angle. No other angle would make sense for the bird to turn, but I still wish for a better view of the eye. Then again, had you been off the the right a bit, the symmetry in the wings wouldn't be as as strong. Trade offs I suppose.

Simply goreous David and I love the wonderful action you captured in this image. As mentioned a little more eye contact would be nice but frankly I would be thrilled if this were mine. Love it and thanks for sharing.

Beautiful colors, comp, pose...stunning as said above.

Thanks for the comments, everyone. I also wish for a bit more eye, but now I have a reason to go back again this spring! ;-)

Lance,,,,,I'd post the IBWP, but Audubon and Nat Geo are in a bidding war for the rights!

I'll try something more current on my next post.

Thanks again for the feedback,,,,,,David

think the pose is great ... personally think that the head is a little hidden in the body, but hey ... it's still a great image !

Can I say "wow" on this post? :D
The pose of the spoonbill is really good and very simmetric and the saturation is just perfect to my taste. I am not sure about the branches on the FG but the image works really fine. Nice action BTW.

This is an eye-catching image! Either way - with or without the branches this is a beautiful spoonie capture.
