I removed an out of focus bird in the lower left corner of the image. Let me know what you think.

Super pose Rodney, and I like the detail. Maybe a little tight in the LRC.

Agree with Stuart on the crop. Lovely pose and eye contact as well as a very pleasing perch, Many thanks for sharing Rodney.

My vote for tight as well , but still a fine image. I think the bird could be just a bit lighter. Love the BG.

Interesting combination of colours.

Liked the exposure, DOF and the head angle. Details are good but looks a bit oversharpened. One more vote for NR on BG. Thx for sharing. We dont get to see many of this bird.

Rodney, I didn't know these birds had such great color! I like the detail in the rock and the color of the BG. I did notice the noise however, and vote for some more NR.:)

Thanks for all the comments. I did apply some noise reduction, but the problem may be when I sharpened the picture I also sharpened the background. I will try to reprocess it when I get a chance and apply a little sharpening to the bird only. And maybe I can test out some noise reduction software. I was just using photoshop to reduce the noise as explained in the Digital Basics File. Maybe I can play around a little more in Photoshop to see if I can get some better results.

The background of the photo is grass.

When I took the picture I only had a chance to fire off a few frames when the bird landed before he flew off so I did not have a chance to back up. For this repost I added some canvas to the bottom. I also ran some noise reduction using the neat image plugin for photoshop. So if you get a chance to look at the repost let me know if the noise levels are better and if the extended canvas looks all right.
