Taken in Florida from James Shadle's Hooptie Deux
If you have never been out on the Hooptie Duex with James Shadle than I would recommend going. It is a fantastic experience. James is very knowledgeable and helpful. There were photo opps. everywhere. I had alot of fun and I thank Artie and James for taking me out.:)This is my first Spoonbill in flight.

Denise, beautiful shot. the underwings details are very nice. Comp is very strong as well. Manual metering? If evauative, then what was the exp. comp? with 40D, for such a shot, I typically have to add in excess of +1 1/3 (on top of evaluative) to expose properly to the right.

Kaustubh, Sorry -yes it was manual metering and I should have inc. that -I will add it to the info.

Hi Denise, congrats on your first spoonie in flight, and what an image to celebrate with. I like the angle, and you have captured exceptional underwing detail. Just love those colours.

Everything is as it should be - composition, wing span, head/eye contact, sharpness, color, white detail.
But what I love the most about this image is that it really puts across to the viewer the delicacy of the wing feathers and the softness of the bird's body feathers.

Did I mention I really like this?

Congrats, Denise. Lovely composition, and I like the sheerness (Is that a word?) of the feathers.

Can't complain about this being your first Spoonie in flight. Too bad the light hadn't been a bit better. The position/angle and feathers are really lovely.
