I shot this image mid morning around the autumnal equinox. Its about a 50% crop.
The eye seems soft to me. WDYT

Nice side-lit portrait, Andrew. I think you could crop some off the right, but keep the shadow. Head and eye do look a little soft, maybe selective USM would help; also you might run some NR on the BG.

Hey Andrew, yes the eye looks ever so slightly softer (than the breast feathers, for example). Some selective sharpening on it may bring it on par. I'm OK with the comp, but find the huge shadow a distraction. Having the sun directly behind you would have been best but I realize you wouldn't have had the same angle of view to that perch. Image seems noisy throughout. Good pose by this fellow...but it does look a little "ratty":).
