I like the pose and the sharpness of this image. The colors look nice and natural. I might be tempted to do a bit of digital pruning to cut down on some of the distracting elements, but it's a nice environmental image as presented (the limb "growing" out of his tail is particularly distracting to me). Really nice image, Jeff. Makes me wish I'd tried to get a shot of the cardinal I noticed sitting in one of our Bradford Pear trees today. The white blooms really set-off his red color.

Gorgeous bird - Like the HA and the pose and included habitat.
Good show.

The head detail, position, eye contact, mood, color, is beautiful. I would remove the vegetation in the upper right corner and leave more room to the left of the bird, if that's possible from the original frame.

Sweet pose and great eye contact Makes the images for me !!! Good call on the branch coming out of the tail section !!! Wouldn't mind going over some of the bg and softly blurring as if you shot with a 2.8 lens, nothing sever !!!

Little guys are difficult and you nailed this one !!!

Hi Jeff, Nice head on view of the cardinal thats sharp with good lighting. Agree with John G regarding the branch on the right that I find a bit distracting....

Hi Jeff,
I love that the eye is so sharp - the stunning eye contact makes it for me. I would blur (with gaussian) the BG just a little as I feel that the BG is a little distracting.
Best,
Nicki

Hey Jeff,

Way to work the exposure and flash ;) I would prefer a rectangular crop. What happened to those pwr points? :)

Best,

Chas
