Took this yesterday from my passenger window. This Zebra was walking next to the car, and I wanted to capture the egret on the back before he flew off. I aslo wanted to make sure that she stayed on the right side of the light, so I was driving slowly next to her, holding my camera, and taking the shot. Good thing it was with the small lens. I had wished for a better HA from the egret.

Stuart,
The background grasses looks nice. The eye contact with the primary subject is fine. I am not too bothered about the head angle of the egret. Since you were using the 24-105 and the shutter speed was 1/1600, trading a bit of shutter speed for a narrow aperture would have been even better. Overall, nice image. Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,
Sabyasachi

Good opportune shot Stuart, sometimes these grab shots work out really well. As you say, might have been a bit difficult having a 500 or 600 on your lap in anticipation.:D Looks like she's in foal.

Nice looking image Stuart. DOF looks fine for me as I would not like the grass in bg and sharper., plenty sharp where it needs to be. Nice comp and exposure. Egret is a bonus. TFS

Guess I am now showing my ignorance, or age, 'what is HA?' :o

For a moment there I thought you were going to say your bedroom window.:D

Nice image Stuart, very nice lighting, two things here IMO would've improved this image the Egret HA and some separation with the Egret and long grass.

What a grab shot Stuart !!! Excellent overall feel, do like the little bird perched on its back and neat having the shadow of the head showing on the grass !!!

I love this one, Stu. wish for the bird to be looking this way. Great habitat, compo and I love the shadow of the Zebra's head in the reeds. VWD.

Nice looking zebra Stuart. He pops nicely off that grass. Good eye contact as well. And no surprise that the bird isn't looking at you. He's checking the grass for lions!

sweet light and expert exposure Stu! looks like you'll have to pitch your tent at Rietvlei as you're there every second day now :)

The egret perched on the zebra's back makes this already great image so much more special Stu. Crisp with pin sharp detail and ditto on that head shadow.:)
