An old one from 2007 that I decided to process. Kept the centered comp because I liked the plants on the sides and the head on view. Also liked the colors in the BG. 20D, 1-400L @ 400mm, f6.3, 1/250s, ISO 400, handheld, pretty big crop right out of the middle.

If it wasn't already a big crop I would crop some from the left, losing the centered comp, but keeping the plants on the right.

I really like the soft side-light here. It adds a moody feel and emphasizes the birds stare. I also like the inclusion of habitat, and the brown and green colors.

Well Done!

Very effective sidelight. This appears to be a juvenile. Where was the shot taken?

A lovely image, I like the habitat and the setting here, the sidelight works very well.

Steve, your subject is very compelling and I like that you included the habitat. I find the OOF foliage at the bottom a bit distracting and would try cropping some more from the bottom if it were mine. Great capture!

Hey Steve, the central placement works well, as the little guy is framed nicely. Just love the direct eye contact with those lovely large eyes. Your usual layered BG, and if anything, I would try and remove the small plant on the owl's RHS. That combo was what I started off with.

The center works with the plants braking the otherwise empty space. Love the look on the Owl's face and the light.
