Another Barred Owl from my week in Florida. This was taken in the morning, where the previous image was shot in the afternoon. The bird is flying in the opposite direction, thus the different BG.

Even though the wings are horizontal, I think there's plenty of underwing detail.

Hi Doug, I like how the light is concentrated on the owl's head, and I agree with you that you have captured good underwing detail. I also like the multi coloured BG too.

Excellent Doug. I like the crop, the background, and the pose. When I saw the thumbnail of this, for a second I thought it was a Great Gray!

Head on shots are always good, this one is no exception. Everything is nice and sharp and the owl pops out from the background nicely

Nice one Doug. Sharp, good colors, and a real nice multicolored and patterned BG.

Hi Doug,
Nice sharp image here. I have never had the chance to have them flying right at me like that. Looks like the focus tracking is right on with the Mark IV. I'm waiting to win the lotto to get mine:p.

Take care.

Steve

Thanks Brad! The 7D is getting a little dusty, but it's still a great body in its own right. :)

Hadn't seen this one, very nice looks like the owl is sneezing or just mad at you with your big lens!!!

Well done, BTW, was the AF as good with the TC too?

I honestly didn't use the TC very much in Florida. Jim Neiger gets you too close to the birds! :) I'm leaving for my Costa Rica workshop in a couple of weeks; the 1.4x will see a lot more use down there.
