Two suggestions: Pull back the whites on the neck and try to bring out the detail in the eye.

Love the color of the water and the image design. The bird looks a tad oversharpened/contrasty from here.

Agree with Artie, I would pull back on the Contrast to help also improve the whites...

I think your original post has more punch, The whites look quite nice on my monitor. I do agree with Artie maybe just a bit less sharpening.

Version two looks much better! I think it may be even a bit more striking if you cropped some off the bottom. Maybe between the 2nd and 3rd head reflection. Also. very nice meeting you the other night.
