Again from the 08 ICF Contest. This is the western coachwhip a big beautiful snake, this one was about a 6' long. The coachwhip is also the fastest snake in North America and my assistant during the contest Mike Robinson could attest to that fact.

Great composition and pose with the head up, and then of course that tongue! Really like this one Dale... you must have had to be quick with the shutter working with this subject.

Robert I love the low angle, DOF and the tongue combo. Well captured.

It just pops out, and the in focus flowers adds to the compo, complimenting the colourfill eye.

Great to see a different species posted.:)

I tend to give these guys a WIDE berth, poisonous or not:D A good habitat image Dale. I might have been tempted to shoot even wider open, but again that's a personal view. Also the removal of the small pink 'crown' (flower head) behind the back of the head and small grass blade below the throat?;)

I am with Steve on this one Dale,

If I am lying down photographing that subject my head would be asking me is there another one right behind me.

I love your image. The DOF control is superb and makes a high impact image even more striking.

Great work.

Dale,
Is this a poisonous species?

I like the low angle and the flowers add to the overall image. Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,
