Great Bittern

Image was created some days ago at the Evros river in northern Greece. This was the first time I saw a Great Bittern because even if it is a large bird it remains hidden into the vegetation most of the time. In this image we can see him in his typical "camouflage" pose.
Canon 7D, 500 f/4L, ISO 320, 1/500, f/5.6, -1/3 EV, full frame.

Great camouflage and pose, sharpness and light look good, too. I would give it a bit more room at the bottom.

Petros love the pose of this bird, another vote for more room at the bottom...I've tried for a long time to get one posing like this in Canada...very well done

This has the 'WOW' factor. Well seen. Bittern in his elements. nice eye contact. Another vote for little room below. Did you try one at f4? Judgng by the DOF here, looks like f/4 might have covered the bird and given you a little more BG blur.

Thanks for your comments. Unfortunately there is no way to make room from below since this is a full frame picture. Kaustubh I tried f/4 but the DOF was too thin and most of the bird was OOF. When you see this picture at full size you will notice that even at f/5.6 the rear part of the bird is OOF.
