Gary,
I took a look at this one and instantly thought "it needs to be brighter." But then I decided to browse in some other forums and come back to it. On second look, I am torn: the dark mood is at once enticing and distracting. Once my eyes adjusted to the darker presentation, I began to appreciate it more for its subtleties, but I'm not quite convinced that it will be a successful image without some increase in the brightness.

My only compositional concern are that the horizon is dead center and the dead tree is very far in the left side of the frame--only about 1/8 from the edge.

Gary,

I feel that an increase in luminance may enhance the image w/o loosing the moody feel - which I like. I am not bothered by the trees location but I do feel that you can crop from the bottom. I would crop up to just below the shaft of blue reflected in the water.

I really like this, it has a great mood. The sky is sweet with dark and bright elements. I like the crop off the bottom idea, I think that would add a lot!

I really like everyones ideas on this one. So here they are, I cropped the bottom off and just touched up the brightness a little.
Thanks

I like the 50/50 and there is something about the mysterious dark tones...

The 50/50 split works best for me also.I love the subtle colours in the clouds. Very nicely done.

50/50? He just cropped off the bottom, so I'm a little confused....
