Hi all,

The cruel side of mother nature shows through in this one I'm afraid.

This was taken early morning and when I caught up with the lion it was exhausted. To protect its catch the lion was trying to drag the wildebeest for some considerable distance towards the undergrowth where the family were waiting.

Canon 1dMK3, 500mm f4.5, ISO250, 1/2500.

C&C welcome.

Sweet capture Austin !!!! Any changes is basically taste, maybe a little more at bottom if you have it

Love the expression on the lion's face and also seeing the preys face (eye) clearly .. and all in good soft light !!!

Very sad but such is the law of nature. Terrific capture, I don't mind the side light since everything important is well lit.

The light angle seems to make this more dramatic, the slightly "glazed" look in the Gnu's eyes seems to indicate it is dead.

Without dead Gnus we would have no Lion Cubs.

Like Alfred I would prefer just a little more at the bottom.

Hi all,

Thanks for your feedback. Much appreciated.

Morkel. Of course I have more. How many gig do you want ?? I'll post some more where the cubs get involved in the "game" as the food gets close to home.

Steve. Thanks for noticing SIE. Well done to you too. I probably won't be there in April. I am spending too much time inside buildings at the moment so outdoors gets priority at the weekends.

Cheers

Hey Austin, I really like the light, and low perspective here, and of course the eye contact from the lion. Good natural colours, and having space at the bottom will enhance this further. Congrats on a fine image.

Excellent, the image shows the truth in nature. You have some real nice lght here. Might have liked a bit more room on the bottom of the frame.

A dramatic behavioral image, Austin. Nice detail in the shadowed side of the lion and good comp (except that here's another vote for a little more room at the bottom). Well done.

I can only echo all positive comments above. The cruel side of mother nature is what we all hunt with our cameras and you were their to capture it.
