Yesterday I went back to Middle Creek. There are over 120,000 Snow Geese and several thousand Tundra Swans now. It is fun to watch them and if all of them take off at once, the sound is almost deafening. :)

Beautiful exposure and wing spread. BG is very complimentary to the bird. What an opportunity for great shots.

I like the landing pose with the outspread wings, and good job on the whites. Great OOF BG too. Yep, those swans and geese must really be a sight and sound to witness.

Great landing shot, Axel. Love the outstretched wings and feet. Complimentary BG - were it mine I might have tried to brighten the BG just a bit, especially on the right side, to separate the bird more. Saw tens of thousands of these guys moving from field to field in Salem County over the weekend, but couldn't get close to them. Amazing to watch.

Another very nice shot Axel. The bg really sets off the bird well.
Those geese are so nice and clean.
Interesting colour of the feet; I had not realized they were that reddish.
Very well done.

Very nice pose and sharpness, Axel. I like the subdued light with the subtle backlighting effect and the dark background helps to make the bird pop.

Hi Axel. Nice moment caught with nice light on the head and behind to illuminate the flight feathers with backlight.

Axel, these are all welcome change from the typical 'geese on sky BG' images. Loved the pose in this one.

Wonderful flight shot with great wing pose. Great details in the wing. I like the soft light in this shot and the perfect BG.
Did you use the central AF sensor only or more sensors?

Markus

Thanks, Dave! In sunlight the feet look more pink than red. When I made this image the light already was quite low.

Thanks, Markus! With the 1D4 I almost always use central plus surrounding sensors.

I love this one. The landing pose, feather detail and the dark background are all super.
