Rim lit Great Egret at Gatorland from last weekend with Doug. I am experimenting with some creative work. C & C appreciated.

Hi kristin....I like the lighting on this....only wish the beak were rim lit as well.

Hi Kristin - I love the mysterious lighting - do find myself wanting to see a little more detail, as bob mentioned rim lighting on the beak or just a glimpse of the eye.
Id probably clone out the green in the lower LHS to give it a more monochromatic feel.
All just personal tastes though with a image like this - IMHo!

Love your experiment and it feels mysterious. Agree with Ovidu I'd like to see it in B&W.
Congrats

Like it as presented Kristin, I find my imagination fills in the blanks. Think B and W would look cool too.

Glad your experimenting with these type images Kristin One important point to understand with these is that there is not right or wrong, just personal taste !!!

For this one I would have tried a little flash for a hint of detail up front !!! Also looking for the bill to be hit by the light and translucent sure adds to the image by introducing some color !!!

it's peaceful and moody.....i like it. i can see where it would be good with the bill rim lit too, but it's not bad as it is either. nice job, kristen!

Thank you all for your input! I am still not sure it feels "right" to me. That means....more experimenting!;)

Like it, I would crop off the bottom just above your name.

I like this very much.
The backlit portions have great detail. The mood set is intriguing.
If mine I would try to get a bit more detail in the dark area (around the bill/eye). For me it creates a dead zone that pulls a viewer's eye from the rest of the image. Maybe just a bit more color in that area?
Just suggestions - as, again, I really like the photo.
