Like the sharpness. The sun looks like it was fairly high in the sky, creating a challenging exposure. You handled it well for the most part, but I'd tone down the whites a little.

Thx Doug. On my monitor it looked ok but I checked and the original flashed up. I did a quick toning down but there's still some clipped pixels. I'll probably have to revisit the RAW at some point.

Whether the whites were hot or not, it's an amazing shot! The head angle is great--it has that "search and destroy" look on its face. Sharp and beautiful on my monitor. Repost whites look better.

The whites on the repost look much better!

White issuer covered, I'd evict that pink on the lower right.
Very nice tight in flight portrait, congrats!

The image is way cool !!! Agree on the whites, you might be able to recover, might try a linear conversion then normal and blend together One image worth working on !!! Sweet !!!

Love that stare. Might raise the bird in the frame a bit. Not sure if it's part of the issue here or not, but if you edit in a larger colour space (e.g ProPhoto) and then convert to sRGB for posting it will often push tones over the edge and clip them.

very nice sharp with good exposure, the purple oof patch in the LR corner is mildly distracting. TFS

Beautiful sharp portrait, tight frame/composition works very well with head and eye position. Repost is much better on whites. Another vote for x'ing the pinkish blob. Congrats on a great shot!

Cheers!

While the whites look better on the repost the image does not :) The middle tones are way too light in both the repost and the ORIG. And the underwings look to have been lightened too much. That said the image is fantastic. I would definitely re-do the RAW. And anyone who says that the 50D can't focus needs to take a close look at this one :)
