Belted Kingfisher

Workshop: South Texas

D3, 600, ISO 1250, f5.6, 1/6400, -0.7EV.

Kicking myself for not stopping down a bit to get the near wing in focus.
It was a realt treat to have a Kingfisher set-up done for all the workshop participants.
Can't wait to go back next month.

You've outdone yourself with this one Alan! Great detail and well controlled whites. Nice BG. Stopping down would have helped, as you point out, but still a fine image.

Funny thing...I had to look to see what you were talking about regarding the near wing. My eye totally landed on the bird's eye, the little tucked feet, the beautiful rust color of her breast, and the spread tail. Super cool image, Alan.

Good image of a bird that is difficult to capture close (for me). In the smaller birds, I really like the detail that feet bring to the image.
As you noted, the front wing gets lost in the back wing due to the lack of focus and overlap.

Spectacular freeze. I dont mind the lack of DOF. Incredible sharpness. Only suggestion is to do a round of NR on BG.

Fantastic picture, the best flying shot of this species I have seen for a long time (if ever).
I looks so much more powerful in this size ( compared to 800 p)

Awesome capture.. these guys are difficult to get sitting still, or maybe hovering
but in full flight.. WOW ! Nice shot.
