Male bald eagle in long light yesterday afternoon coming into a rather brisk head wind. The intended perch is still 3 feet below and blocked by some pine boughs so I created this as it was settling on the way down.

Nikon D300s, 600VR, TC14EII, ISO 640, F8, 1/1200, CW metering, NearUniWB preset, +.7EV

nice, clean image that is very well exposed. better head turn would make it outstanding

Don't disagree on the HA at all, but as the bird was looking down,I took what I could get :)

I like this a lot. Powerful pose and great exposure. No HA problem here as far as I'm concerned. He was clearly looking for his landing spot. HA gets too much press here.

No issue for HA for me too....with this pose, its fine IMO. Great pose. What I like most is the sharpness. Very well done.

Great shot. Wonderful light and colors. Perfect exposure and sharpness.
For me the HA is no problem here. I like the the bird looking down. Looks like he is checking if his feet are clean :)

The pose and the light really make this. A little detail is lost in the darkest areas but I cannot see how you could have exposed or processed it better. Did you have to darken the whites at all in pp or is this generally "as shot"?

Allan...

Whites had no darkening, linear burn, etc done to them.

Nice landing pose with excellent exposure and sharpness. Would have liked to see the perch, but understand that why you didn't include it.
