D90; 80-400 VR @ 310mm. ISO 800. f.7.1 @ 1/800s. Matrix metering @ -0.3 EV. HH.

This cute fellow chirped to catch my attention as I was on a walk yesterday (actually chirped at his mate who was nearby). I shot this essentially from the hip. By the time I realized I wasn't fully zoomed out, and tried to move for a better shot, he was gone. As a result this is a large crop - 40% of original. I tried not to oversharpen in search of more detail than I owned, but I'm not sure I got it right -- this is one of my nemeses. Let me know what you think. C&C appreciated.

Composition is great, love the vert with the bird high in the frame (sweet). BG is beautiful and complements the bird. Subject could use some selective sharpening - nice one - TFS.

Hi Bill - lots to like here - HA, Eye contact, BG and a gorgeous bird.
Could be a tad sharper in parts.

agree with jeff and lance. just think it's going to be hard to get a lot of detail with that big of a crop, but the current compostion is really nice!
