Campylopterus Hemileucurus

From Costa Rica. These hummingbirds are stunning in the right light. The glittering-violet hues just jump out at you. They are also a very large hummingbird at around 6" in length.

I liked the back side pose with the nice head turn for this image. Had a nice simple forest green background. This was taken in a rainforest in relatively low light

Ken:
Indeed, a lovely bird. Nice dorsal view, head turn, colors.

The eye seems slightly less sharp than the lower back/wing to me.

I might consider giving it just the tiniest bit more room above, as the bird appears to be looking that way.

Nice job on noise control. Flash use quite subtle, well done.

I like the look-back pose, iridescence and BG and agree regarding sharpening the head more.

Dorsal view well captured , Keith ! Bg very supportive. A little more canvas to the north as suggested above.
Would be great to experience this species .

You did a great job of capturing the iridescence Keith! Agree about a bit more sharpening of the head. Have you started packing yet??? :D
