Tidying up my old files, I found this.

Taken whilst staying at Zibilianja in the good old days 26th October 2003.

EOS 10D

100-400mm @100mm

F5.6, 1/90, ISO 200 (thats what it says?)

Looks like he's just had a good meal, with all that blood on the face. I like the eye contact, and relaxed posture.

The red face is striking here, well captured Ken, I'd love to see this one sometime.

Well composed, blood on face adds to the image as mentioned. Great stare. TFS

Always good to see Ken, the stare with the bloodied face says it all. Perhaps a tad more USM on the WD?

Thanks for the comments.

We actually found the dogs battling with Hyena over three Impalla the dogs had killed.
They kept wo had a good feed and returned to the cubs, a magical sighting!

Nate,

Seeing Wild Dogs is extremely difficult, probably the best bet is Madikwe in South Africa, at least one dog in each pack is collared and if you can get someone to put you in touch with the researchers, then they should be able to find them for you. Madikwe is the major source for breeding in Africa and has been very succesful, with packs being relocated to many other National Parks and private reserves (NONE GO TO CHINA).

The best"wild" areas are in Botswana currently Kwando Lagoon and Mapula.

Ken,
These are on my wish list, as are Polar bears.

I like the images out of 10D. In this case, the eye contact is nice. The blood on the mouth tells a story. Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,
Sabyasachi

Nice capture, I had seen this guy only a month before you did.

Remember how low the Zib Lagoon was that year? I will send you a photo from last month!

Adding to Ken has said. Kwando Lebala is regularly seeing two packs of dogs at the moment. It is in the same concession as Lagoon camp.

Kwara is not too bad for Dogs, I had 3 sightings in 10 days.

He does appear to be resting from a big meal. I like the log in the BG and the splash of color that the green plant adds. Appears to be some repetitive patterns on the left side (added canvas?)
