Cooling off? Nice capture but it seems a bit dark on my screen.

Nice shot. Brightness is perfect on my (calibrated) screen. Great color, love the action. Really like the crop. Not finding anything to want on this shot...

Love the hairdo and eye! Flying water tells the story.

Not a perspective or action we often see with egrets...well done! I wish the area around the eye and throat were better lit. Love the water action!

I have seen a few times but never captured it, nice angle and capture getting the water drops sharp.

Thanks, Daniel, and others for your interest. I have written of the venue this image was captured at many times at http://swfloridabirder.blogspot.com/. It's one of my favorite places to photograph birds and is a must see for those visiting SW Florida. I had strongly encouraged Artie to stop by on his 2010 President's Day IPT, but am not sure the troop made it with their tight schedule. Fabs had told me that she had not visited the venue before. When you visit the preserve, be sure to plan to be in the water. The bay is extremely shallow and allows wading to your heart's content, typically no more than knee deep (even at high tide) unless you choose to cross the channels at either direction (one mile) from the parking area. In the case of this image, that I just looked at closely today since the sighting, I'm reminded that it was the only time I'd seen the RE bathing which was a fun experience. The light was late afternoon, so the shot was expected to be criticized in its presentation here for that. This image was taken at the west channel where the wading birds tend to congregate at low tide. I've learned to crop my images seemingly more favorably since uploading shots at BPN, and I'm grateful for that.

Love it--the lighting is unusual--and very well handled--great image!
