The morning when we left Nossob camp, I quickly dashed into the hide just to see if the mating lions from the previous night were still there. I only dragged the 200-400 with me. Great was my surprise when there were a new set of lions, even a female with 4 week old cubs right below my feet! The guys with the point and shoots had a ball shooting thru the slots in the floor while everything was too close for the big lens. This is FF at 200mm, I could not zoom back more.

Hi Callie You did come up with a good tight portrait !!! I like the framing as presented, might only lighten the right side a bit ... you could have had one with an iPhone !!!! Must have been exciting !!!

Hi Callie,

I like the tight portrait as an alternative to the norm. Maybe a tighter crop would allow you to lose the "non fur" space bottom right. I agree with the lightening suggestion and I like the eye contact.

Wow, that's close, an intense portrait, I don't mind the sidelighting.

Lovely. But how fantastic it'd have been had you carried your wide-angle lens with you!

A very nice predicament to find yourself in, nothing beats a real close up!

How were the broeks after this. LOL. Those eyes make this, and the tight comp frames the head nicely. Well captured Callie.

Good job on the tight portrait, agree that going in tighter might even be better. TFs
