Nice to have a pair in the frame, water looks good, too. I think it needs a bit CW rotation. Considering the high shutter speed you could have stopped down to f/11 or so to have the female sharp, too.

Gary:

Nice pairing here. I wonder if it would be stronger if the back bird trailed the front, rather than the opposite?

I don't know, just strikes me that way.

I am not sure if even f/11 would have gotten here sharp enough?

The whites on his shoulder look a bit white on my monitor.

Lovely colors in the background. Do agree about the rotation (Axel)

Lovely BG you have here. Crop may be a little tight on the right and needs rotation as noted. The head of the male looks absolutely stunning with that perfect HA and the darks look good.

At this distance, F11 may well have put them both in focus but, speaking for myself, I often don't react fast enough. I think Randy brings up an interesting point about how this would have looked had the female been in focus. I have had this thought with a few of my own pictures and am going to give it a try.

Thanks for sharing!

Water looks lovely in this one. I would have preferred no over lapping of birds which is hard to do sometimes. Nicely done on exposure and lots of detail in male. Well done. Dave
