I liked the light and colours in this. Taken in the Pilanesberg Game reserve, a while back. Removed part of the perch coming out of his back.

Hey Stuart, neat species...I love the red "mask". Good BG. I too like the light on the subject, but I really wish the perch was better lit rather than in shade. I also would prefer a bit more of a head turn our way (although I realize this guy is probably twisted around close to its maximum limit:)). An option would be to crop additionally left and top. Good job on the branch removal...I never would have guessed it!

I agree with Daniel on all points. I like the background very much and what an interesting looking pigeon.

Stuart:

What a wild looking pigeon. Agree with Daniel about the crop, because of the way the bird is facing.

Interesting looking pupil. Does it have the large iris flecks of black that I have seen on oystercatcher females?

Cheers

Nice Stu. Maybe a tad more saturation and a bit of selective sharpening on the eye.
Randy, these guys indeed have very strange irises. Ditto crop suggestion.

Thanks all for the great feedback and comments.

Randy, these birds do have a peculiar iris, but Im not familiar with the female OC, although Im aware of OC having a similar iris.
