Nice comp with good detail and eye contact. I might cut back the saturation in the reds a bit. TFS

Steve,

I am deeply envious of your consistent ability to show such natural colours, give us a clue as to how you do it?

Hi Steve. The first thing that hits me is the outstanding light. After that, it's the pose, sharpness, exposure, comp, and interesting habitat. It's all good - I wouldn't change a thing!

Thanks for the comments guys.

Ken,
I appreciate the feedback. I use DPP for the RAW conversion and PS Elements 3 for the rest. Some bending of curves in DPP usually gets me close to the colors I like. I'll then further adjust the color sliders (hue, sat, lightness) in PSE to taste and sometimes selectively darken the image as well. Certainly better/easier ways to do this with more current PS versions but this is all just for fun anyway.

Steve,
Thanks for the info, it sounds really simple, but works very well!

Hey Steve, there you go with your layers of BG, well seen. These guys always remind me of the old western movies running across the plains. I suppose they still run around, but with no cowboys. Healthy looking character, and I like the eye contact. Good to see the eyes.

Thanks Stuart. When you're the only one in a meadow with a herd of these guys grunting, bellowing, and grazing all around you on a hot, late, summer afternoon, you can really feel like you've gone back in time to the old west. Great feeling :).
