I generally carry some gear with me when I go to collect food for our injured animals in care. Yesterday, I had a quick session lasting no more than a few minutes as I spotted this Dragonfly. It was quite large and I only had my 300/4L IS lens so I put the 2x on and stalked to the edge of my minimum focus distance of 1.5 meters. Full frame with a sliver of added canvas on the right.

30D, 300/4L IS, 2x, ISO500, manual focus, f/11, 1/125th, +1/3EC, hand held

Hey Akos, very nice sharp details on the head and body. Good position and great BG. Well done.

Beautiful image Akos. Great detail (esp considering the gear), comp, colours and bg.:)

Very nice, Akos. You've got really nice clarity on the face, feet, and body yet those wings remain wispy and ethereal - really super work. I especially like the 90 degree angle of the df in the image...would also have lived a bit of a diagonal on the perch if that has been possible...just something to remember for next time.

Nice use of the 300mm lens!

Hi Akos, very nice details and excellent BG. I would have liked to see the dragonfly a little higher in the frame, giving it some more room at the bottom and placing the head more in the UL ROT position.
