Pretty awesome Jim! I might be tempted to remove the blue spots of sky on either side of the bird.

Great angle coming straight at you. Tight crop works well. Ditto Doug on the blue spots.

Pretty neat shot? Tough to get these owls flying towards you in the daylight! Did you use sound?

Awesome "close-up". This is an amazing close view of this large owl.
I like the composition and the tight crop.

How close was the bird? Must be not more than 15m away.

Exif data says .69m, but that is impossible. I'm guessing between 10 and 15 meters. In the original frame, the Owl's right wing was very slightly clipped and the left wing tip was almost touching the edge of the frame.

Wowza! Love the close crop. I agree about the blue spots. Are you wearing a big old owl suit?

Hi Jim:

Killer image. The details you acquired in the owl's face handholding the 500 are pretty amazing. Love the light under the wings and tail. Agree about the blue spots detracting but it's a personal decision whether you wish to alter the image. Either way it's a killer image.

Absolutely wonderful. Tack sharp and super DOF. Frankly the blue spots don't bother me that much as they are natural and also OOF.

Just got to love that detail in the face. Fantastic capture.
I admire your images.
Any thoughts of moving his head a bit further left in the frame and removing those blue spots?
