Tew's Falls Panorama

Hi folks,

I took this shot last fall while on a walk with some family friends. Tew's is a waterfall here in Southern Ontario; and at 41 meters high it's just 12 or so meters short of the Niagara Horseshoe Falls. Those who have seen this waterfall know that this is basically the only readily available view of the falls, unless you climb down into the gorge.

Hi Paul, Seems like this is a very high falls . Couple of things I might have played with composing the image. I would have taken some off the left and added more to the right(if able) to frame the falls still keeping the falls off center. I noticed you didn't mention using a polarizer. Very useful in taking out glare. Water flow can be controlled using shutter speed and you might have played around with different speeds to get different looks.

Thanks for the advice! I'll remember to add more to the right next time. I didn't have a tripod with me (this was taken on a hike with family and friends where a tripod would have been cumbersome), so long exposures weren't really an option. I didn't have a polarizer with me either, for the same reasons.

Paul,

Good comments from Dave that I agree with. Any reason for not showing the bottom of the falls. If not I would consider a vertical image of stitching to horizontal images. The water is easier to blend then you might think. Also try to make this image in less contrasty light.

Paul I havve been there and I think you have got about the only shot possible. If you were at the bottom it would be hard to get a shot without a lot of difficult perspective issues, and it is also hard to get a clean shot without a lot of branches in. Agree with maybe different SS's and better light though.

I didn't include the bottom because the falls was way too tall for a horizontal.
