Well the female i saw the other day found a mate i guess. Saw this guy crusing the same field. 40D -1/400 -F/5.6 -iso400 -comp.+1 100-400L

Lovely colours and pose, Charles. The thumbnail really jumps out at you.. Looks like a significant crop and doesn't look quite sharp to me. Plane of focus seems close to primaries on near wing but sharpest area of image seems to be the twigs which are behind the wing so probably motion blur. I think the saturation may have been pushed a bit far and there is significant posterisation in the upper BG

I have to agree with Tony here. It's a pity because this just had so much potential.

With the smoothed out, soft look here it doesn't really work as a straight photo, but the pose, colors and comp all are wonderful.
I'd be tempted to try some creative filters and go a little more artistic with it. I think it has tons of potential in that realm.

thanks for the comments all guess i got the male ,female thing mixed up. guess i also either need a steadier hand or a sharper lens to get these right?

C, You did capture the perfect moment, now to get the perfect everything else! Believe me it takes work, I have clicked the shutter on my 30D about 80,000 times since May 06with along way to go to perfect! Bob
