This young lad was very inquisitive and came closer and closer to our car, eventually rendering my 500mm obsolete!

Taken in Mountain Zebra National Park, Eastern Cape, South Africa, 18th December 2009

Nce portrait of the young buff... F6.3 gave you DOF from nose to eyes while still having a pleasing BG.

I agree with Dale. One suggestion... if he is still enough make the sharp image on the eyes and then one on the nose and layer the nose in later.

This is clearly in the "sweet days of youth" Ken. Regrettably, he'll get bad tempered and likely charge your car in 10 years... but you know that! Nicely done, good dof and details. never heard of a buf' being curious or friendly... What is the world coming to....

Hi Ken

Great DOF and nice to see both eyes as well.

I like the inquisitive look and the color of the BG. Also like the sparse hair on top and the detail in the horn.

I've never seen this before either hence my choice of lens!

Thanks for the comments, Robert your sharpening tip that is what I did , do you think it needs a little more?

That is quite seriously close, Ken- well captured. Little buffs are always on my wish list, still have to get this close to one without mommy getting antsy (even with a 500). The look in the eye & piece of grass make this one for me.
