Yellowstone '08, minus 21F

Greetings from Bozeman. Finally able to get on line after 2 plus weeks in Yellowstone. Still have another week to go in MT before getting home.

I am living the dream!!!

1DS Mark III, 600IS w/2x
Manual, spot meter off snow plus 2 EV, 1/200 @ f/11, ISO 800
Post-production- ARC, CS3, laptop

FYI-I would prefer the images appear at the top of the posts, rather than the bottom.

See you where there is light, or at the computer

That certainly looks cold. Great exposure on the whites.... I'm not really sure if this parallel approach works for me....I think that a frontal approach would be really powerful with all that snow. Now, the way you framed this, I feel that it is a bit too tight to the edges....and for me it would need some more space to look into. BTW, I fully agree with your comment regarding the placement of the photographs on BPN, I'll see what we can do about it.

I feel really sorry for this bison... Is it alive at all? A very good and remarkable photo, but a bit tight IMO.

Hi Chas,

I agree a bit tight but for me on the bottom and front. I certainly like the patterns on the snow on his fur. And of course the exposure is right on.

Looks like elephant skin. Nice out of the box portrait.

Nice one Chas, I really like the texture of the pastered snow. I can't figure out why the horn is so hard to pick out, seeing it better would improve the image a bit, for me. I love it when you can capture an animal covered in snow like this!

I think we solved the placement issue Chas.....

This image just screams COLD Chas. Have to feel sorry for the poor bison, but that's the life they live. I like that you've got a clear view of his eye amongst all that snow/ice. Can't wait to see more.

Perfect! Leave it as is. And hang it on the wall.
