Just for a change, taken in Makola NP, Northern Cape South Africa.

I needed to get out of the car for this and needless to say someone came along.

EOS 1D MkIIn (bang goes my WPTY entry) 28-300mm at 300mm, F7.1, 1/1600, ISO 400, EV-0.33

Ken, good sharp detail on the little guy, and love the curled tail. Lovely contrast in colours between the chameleon and the sand. Well captured.

Love the colours and the curving pose and especially that it seems to be keeping an eye on you. I even rather like the bit of stick. The markings are beautiful. If I could I would wish for the front of the head/eye to have been further illuminated to really bring out the detail there, but that's not something that jumped out at me (and of course it might have required a second sun!). Well worth getting a telling off - assuming you meant the someone who came along was wearing a uniform.

Certainly different Ken, with striking colours:)

Guess you couldn't creep up with those eyes. :D

Hi Ken ... I guess that animal does not depend on stealth :)

Would only take the one stick intersecting the tail !! Love it !!

Beautiful contrast of colors here Ken, nice and sharp also, with good detail in the skin.

Ken,
I like it. We have similar ones in India, albeit with a deeper colour.

Mark IIN and WPTY entry. :D:D Only 10MP camera allowed. :D

Cheers,

Thanks for all of the kind comments and suggestions, I missed the intersecting stick! The car coming along did not contain a uniformed person, strangely the game warden there uses a motor bike!. But I have been reported by other travellers before so no chances taken, I was intending to lay on my belly (not that that would get me very much lower) I had to make do with kneeling.

What puzzled me is that it was green with no attempt to change colour crossing the road. The last one I saw this close changed colour walking up my arm!

This one is worth getting in trouble for!
1D MkIIN rules. (I am waiting for all the 1DMkIIN wannabee WPTY entrants to sell theirs so I can pick a 2nd one up cheaply:)).
Well captured, Ken, while keeping an eye out for dangerous lifeforms sneaking up on you, like the sharpness & pose, only noticed stick because of comments.
