Hi Everyone,
Hope you have a great weekend. Here is a shot of a Bald Eagle down at Neck Point. It is unusual to see them down on the rocks like this. Usually they are either flying or perched on a fir tree. This one caught my attention when the Canada Geese he was after raised the alarm. I've noticed them hunting other birds lately which I find unusual as their main diet is fish that they are quite adept at catching off shore.

Stats: Canon 50D, Canon 500 F/4 + 1.4X, ISO 800, F/8 at 1/160 sec

Thanks for looking,

Steve

At Boundary Bay, I've seen eagles on the roof of a house. Many just perch on top of power posts, occupying each one of them along the dike. Usually you can find eagles on rocks by the river, too. Speaking of the eagles going after birds, a park nearby somebody has seen an eagle caught a pigeon. Didn't think they would after Canada geese though.

Like the sharpness and the pose !

Nice shot Steve. I like the pose with the good ha and eye contact. I might take a sliver off the bottom. I think the decline of salmon and other fish stock in the straight of Georgia is having an impact on lots of different animals including eagles.
Looks like you got reasonably close to this one. Dave

Nice image Steve. Good head turn, neat light. Eagles do like to eat other birds. It might look better in a horizontal composition, if its got the room, otherwise well done.
Ted
P.S. I like the way the talons are showing.

Nice pose and good BG on this one Steve. I would like to see it as a horizontal as well because I think it needs more room on the right side.
