D300 with 500vr, BLUBB beanbag/window sill, f/6.3, 1/400, -0.33, iso 800. NR performed on BG, extensive gardening of limbs and twigs. I believe it's a Cooper's. Let me know if it's a Sharp-Shinned.

Hi David,

I would call this a Sharp-shinned Hawk. The lack of an obvious neck is classic sharpie, as are the small feet, and smaller overall appearance. I like the perch, and the sharpness. I wish the beak didn't merge with the neck, and I might selectively saturate and brighten that eye just a tad.

Lovely light, pose and detail of this beauty. Would crop off the top and a bit off the right to move the head off centre.
