All the rain on the LI made me want to look at Florida pictures..

This was from the first and warmest day we had Estero, as I kneeled in the mud. Shot with my trusty MKII and the 100-400

Thanks for looking,
Lou

Hi Lou, I really like the fact you can see his feet under the water my only suggestion would be to add a bit of a S curve for some contrast.

Funny, but the underwater feet drew my attention as well. I could see a bit more sharpening on the face and eye, but it could be my tired eyes from 'puter all day.

Lou:

You might say I like Reds a bit (see avatar)

The image does seem a bit flat, but you might consider adjusting the black point to the right a bit, about 15 would be about right before you get blocking. This will add a bit of punch. I agree with Grace about a bit of selective sharpening.

I did do a little work in photoshop on it, and used a separate curves layer with the midpoint pulled way down, filled the layer mask with black, then used a large soft brush to paint the water, esp. in the foreground. This brought the brightness down and helped the feet stand out a bit more. (I even sharpened the feet :D)

If you have the time, give it a try.

Cheers
Randy

Beautiful shot. I like the soft light, the calm BG and, like the other comments, the visible feet.
I agree with Don about a little more contrast.

That's what I get for processing during a concall :)

Yeah a little more contrast helps.

Beautiful soft color palette in the BG. I like the details and pose. Maybe a bit more sharpening and a hint of contrast. Great looking bird!

Nice exposure and colors, like the BG too! wish the bird was parallel to sensor, needs a bit more contrast and sharpening on the face. TFS

Another vote for more sharpening and contrast. I also wouldn't mind a looser comp. Nice soft light, HA, and BG. I like that we can see the feet below the water.

I like the composition, nice head angle. Agree with more contrast needed.

Lou, I like the pose, and the softer colours in this. With regards to sharpening, you are nearly there already, and would only selectively sharp the wing, head and beak. I agree a little more contrast will make this pop.
