Bison form Yellowstone area. They wonder al over the place in small groups blocking roads at times and having no concerns with traffic flow :D Fun to photograph but difficult, need really good light for obtaining face detail ... and flash is not an option :)

Comments welcome and much appreciated

Kostas they look so gentle and come so close to you that seems like petting would be in order, this was taken from the car under ten feet away !! Last year one charged and killed a tourist !!!

Nice one for HH, 1/200 with that zoom lens :).
Interesting EV settings, black against highlights but black forground dominate - nice. Guess it was about average to the meter?

Bison in Yellowstone are all over the area and do block traffic. Attached picture was taken though my front window as I and many others waited for these gentlemen to move on. Taken with my D300 80-400 1/125 f5.6

Great image, Alfred. Makes me cold just looking at him. You managed to get good detail in the dark head despite the snowy BG. I like it!

Excellent capture Al. I'm amazed that you held the camera so steady considering how cold Fabs told me it was. Congrats....

Very, very nice Mr. Forns.
I like these gentle giants...I love the close up pose...you have good fur details, and you can almost feel the cold weather looking at this big guy...good show...

Nice portrait of a very majestic beast. Good detail in everyway, hard to believe it was handheld. Even though it's a winter shot the color seems a little too cool for me. I'd warm it up a tad.

HI Jeff In this case the ideal was a meter reading (spot :) ) on the snow and opening up 1 1/2 but there was no time :) ... best way av and compensate for the predominant dark mass which would open up the meter !!!

...... Mayer I think they do it on purpose :)
