Canon 50D Canon 500mm f4 L IS Bean bag on car windowsill ISO 200 1/250 sec f5.6.
It was an early start for this shot - on the road by 2.30am followed by a 3hr car journey. This was taken about an hour after dawn.
All comments welcome - (I did try cloning some of the twigs off the shoulder but I made a bit of a pig's ear of it so I left well alone!)

I like everything here except for the distracting OOF FG grasses...I wish we had an unobstructed view of the beautiful flowers in front of the grouse. Good pose, sharpness, comp (although a bit more above would be good too), and BG.

This is really nice with the great morning light and the beautiful colours. Too bad about the oof branches in the foreground because they really do distract from the shot. I agree, they would be difficult to remove.

Well Jonathon the foreground is a bit dominent a higher angle might of helped to at least get the bird in the clear the surrounding habitat is very pretty as is the bird.

Jonathan, I like the detail, colours and sharpness, and agree the OOF grasses are a tad distracting.
