Greetings,

My first post in the Avian section and I could not have been more exited. Made this image just after sunrise. Luckily it allowed to me get pretty close. This is about 70% of the original frame. I chose this crop to emphasize the perch a little bit.
Thanks for looking and C&C much appreciated.

Madhav:

A big welcome to Avian. A great place to learn and share.

Your bird is nicely exposed, and pretty sharp. I might take one more pass of selective sharpening on the head/eye.

Background color and smoothness very nice.

It is an interesting perch, but for me it would balance better if you cropped down from the top, to leave the two twigs about the same length ( so about 1/2 way down the longer twig). I would then crop in from the right as well.
You could try a version with the twig on the right removed, but I like it for balance.
Lots of options here.

Keep them coming.

Randy

I like the angle, look-back pose and BG and also like the idea of a tighter crop. I would tone down the whites and wish the sun would have been behind you.

I actually like the forked perch, frames the bird nicely, although it does place him fairly central in the comp. This is sharp, and I like the BG colours too.

Thank you folks for your comments.
@Randy: Agree with you on a tighter crop. Here is my crop with whites tones down a bit and the bird placed just a little to the right of the frame.
