Fascinating species, I've never seen one. I like the low angle! Eye contact is great.

I might crop a little off the top and right side here.

Why f/11?

Well exposed here, nice detail in whites and darker areas.
I also wondered about the f/11?
I would also consider a crop off the top, but would be inclined to leave it as is on the right, because of his gaze.

Lovely bird.

Thanks!

Randy

Lovely capture. The details and colors look very nice and well exposed. I love the textures in the greys. I don't think you needed F11 here, but b/c you had such a clean BG I also don't think it adversely effected your capture. You may consider a slight crop off of the top and even just a smidgeon off of the bottom.

Beautiful bird, good eye contact, sharpness and BG. I might crop a bit off the top and right to make the crop more rectangular and would try to get more details in the blacks.

Spectacular bird, new to me. Great eye contact and head turn, sharp detail, color and BG. Ditto Axel on the crop.

Thanks All. F/11 was an accidental error while shooting. I did not get much time as I had to crawl a long distance in marsh so as to catch this beauty from close distance. Hence I missed out on this setting.

A great angle, well worth the crawl :) I also love the alert expression and nice lighting.

Very beautifull falcon. I would just crop a litle from right.

Congrats. this one does not get photographed a whole lot and this is a very nice picture. As suggested by others, a little crop from right will make it better. Loved the light and the eye contact. These is a small mark in front of the belly that looks a little odd. This is the same bird that used to be called red-headed merlin before, right? I still have the early-90s' common names of indian birds in my brain.
