This guy is a permanent resident at shark valley, unfortunately he's never out in the open to get a clear shot.
Heavy crop and some sharpening.

Nikon D3, Nikon 300mm 2.8 w/ 1.7tc @510mm, F8, 1/640, Iso 400, Exposure Comp @ +1/3, Aperture Priority, Hand held.

Oscar, really sharp and detailed for a heavy crop!! Hawks here seem never to be out in the open unless they're on a utility pole or sign or something else you really don't want to photograph!!:( On this, I'd be tempted to remove part of the eye highlights.

Nice detail for a heavy crop. Very sharp and cool pose maybe a tad tight - well done.

Hi OZ,
Beautiful detail and feather pattern! Nice job with the hand-holding. I believe you have a red-shouldered hawk here.

Hi Oz - lovely and sharp, love the details and exposure looks good.
A little tight at the bottom for my personal tastes - You didn't cut the tail - Did you??
Like it :)

Hi Oscar,
I remember this fellow, this is a nice close up shot. You have very good feather details and good color rendition, a good head angle and sharp eye. I would give him more room all the way around, he is too tight in frame, and more at the bottom for the virtual tail...

Handsome bird, nicely captured. Good detail and exposure and great eye contact. I agree with Kerry about the species; and for my taste, too, I would give him some breathing room all around.

Hi Oscar You made the best possible image from your position !!! btw the best way to capture this character is coming back to the nest with food !! With the right wind we have chance !!! ... will be going after him soon !!!

... btw there is another nest by the ranger's houses, can't go in there but do see the bird moving in and out !!
