I think that I like your umbrella splash better than Roman's and I like that your purples are a bit lighter than his. Wish that yours had been centered like his. I am thinking that this type of image needs to be centered vertically.

Thankyou Artie, I appreciate the comments. I did like the off set comp. a bit more but here is the more centered version. Let me know if you like it more.:)

Here it is dead-centered with a 1.08 degree CCW rotation. And a slight crop for the rotation. Compositionally, I think that it is pretty much perfect now with just the right shapes in just the right places. Now I like it a lot more :) Thanks for the repost.

ps: Looking back, what I really like about yours are the fire patterns in the water umbrella...

Very cool image, Denise. So how did you get the fire to appear below the water? What was the set up like?

Jules, The fire images were placed on one side and at the back of the "drop". The base is a cobalt blue low bowl filled w/ water the drops were set to fire w/the camera .There were 3 flashes positioned around the "drop" Approx. 1000 images were taken and the keeper rate was low. It was lots of fun and Susan and her husband were really nice. We used Roman's fire images.

Hey Denise,
It was fun wasn't it! I am OK with offsetting the splash but since the crop didn't eleiminate too much of the fire in the water......it works too! I might remove the last water droplet near the edge though. Very nicely done!

Roman, It was fun and your fire images were perfect. I want to buy one of those set-ups so I can sit home and click, click, click!!:)

This is wonderful Denise! The fire and water together is such a great idea and you captured that splash perfectly. I can't decide which crop I like best. Do you mind sharing more on how you captured this image?:)

Vida, Thankyou for your kind comments. We set up a table w/ foam core sides, put the fire images in the back and on one side. Placed a low bowl under where the drop would land. Set the camera mounted on a tripod close to the table w/ a 100mm macro lens attached.
Then had 3 flashes that were controlled by a water drop trigger that was Susan's , Camera on manual mode w/ these settings- f22 and 1/250 sec. and ISO 400. Flashes at 1/32 power.Hope that helps.

Thank you very much Denise. It certainly sounds complicated but definitely worth the effort looking at the great result. Would have loved to see you guys at work creating this image.:)

Denise, you guys sure had fun, and I too like the colours of the water created by the reflection of the fire. Well timed on your part too. How many takes did you guys shoot to get the perfect shot.

Stuart, Thankyou so much for your kind comments. We took approx. 1000 images and the keeper rate was low. There is alot of effort that goes into this and it is more difficult than it looks. Susan has really mastered it. So I was lucky to have been included with her and "The Master" (Roman).:)

Stunning image Denise. My jaw dropped when I first saw it, now I've got to go and look at Roman's.

I like the repost better than the original cropped version.
