These little guys are always on the look out, and just love the way they stand up to scan for any danger. Taken in a nature reserve close to my house at the end of last year. As these guys are pretty small, and he was quite far, Im happy with the crop to have created what I have. I blurred the BG enough to make him pop. I left the eye in shadow as is.

The comp, pose and BG, with nice eye contact, all first rate Stuart. I never tire of watching these guys and how lucky are you to have them on your doorstep.;)

they are very cute and hyperactive. I've never seen one at Rietvlei so good on you for that! Comp works well and IQ is decent for a large crop.

lovely image, Stuart , good use of space, no problem with eye colour. I might however tone down the greens a tad..

well done

Very nice light and I also like the inclusion of all the grass.

Well done Stuart. Did not know they were at Rietvlei. Got my first wild shots at Kalahari in December. Love the POV and postbox format of the frame, but would place the meerkat more on a 1/5 than on a 1/3, say loose 1/2 the space on his right - my subjective crop feeling.

Love the pose and bg, direct eye contact makes it strong, just wish I could see better the right eye !! Fine image and like it a lot !!!

We actually managed to see our first Suricates at Mokola recently, unfortunately with the sun behind them and far away, so most images were not usable, fun to watch though.
I like the positioning in the frame.

Hi Stuart,
I like the simple comp of this one. Also like the contrast between the straight upright posture of the meerkat and the bent swaying grasses.
