Great-horned owl juvenile

nikon D3, 200-400 plus 1.4, f/8, 1/125, iso 1250.

this was in the shade and i lost some feather detail due to wind. would anyone try to use flash in this situation or just open up aperture?

Great find, I like the one ear up-one ear down pose, perch, eye contact and BG. The exposure doesn't look right, I would tone down the highlights and maybe a bit more contrast. The bird and perch look quite oversharpened on my monitor.

This one looks angry that you found it! Nice composition and balance. I too think it looks over-sharpened but a good find and capture.

Looks good...agree with the over sharpening, and maybe some stray clone marks near the bottom pine cones? Overall a stunning image!

Looks over sharpened and a bit contrasty on my screen.
I would have tried some flash for sure.

Very nice shot. I like the diagonal perch with the pine cones, the bg colours are nice, the pose is great with one ear up he does appear to have an attitude. I agree there appears to be a problem with highlights and over sharpening.
I don't feel that people should use a flash when shooting owls with their night vision eyes.
