Besides watching for gators and such, what would be my best day trips from Miami??

I haven't been to the Anhinga Trail lately, but that will likely be a good bet. You can drive farther to Flamingo and maybe Eco Pond or the area around the marina is crazy with nesting osprey. If you like landscape shots, several stops along the park's main road will offer you lots of opportunties, especially at sunset.

I too have not been to Anhinga Trail lately, but it is a very reliable location. I plan on being there this weekend. Another interesting spot is Shark Valley.
