I made this image of a Black-browed Albatross in West Point, The Falkland Islands in November 2009, and I loved the sunny detail on the beak. Look forward to your comments and suggestions!

Verena, Big welcome to Outside the Box! I love the details in the beak and the way the sun is hitting it. These are gorgeous birds and I have never seen one in person.Hope to someday. I do wish for a bit of eye contact but the beak is lovely and would probably steal the show anyway.:)

I agree this is super Verena!- the bill of course, but also the lovely soft feathers on the side of the neck, fading to grey in the lower left. The image says to me that the bird is just soaking up the sun, and is totally at peace!

terrific portrait Verena. I enjoy the softness of the feathers and the wonderful detail on that large beak. I too would like just a hint more of an eye, but the play of light/shadow here is so nice. Well done :)

I, too, would have liked a peek at the eye but the lighting in this is superb. Well done!
